October 7, 1939 - August 8, 2018
"I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow." Jeremiah 31:13

In deep sadness but with joyous hope, we announce the death of our father and grandfather Albert Martin Friesen. Albert passed from this world August 8, 2018 in Chilliwack at Cascades Residential Care Facility. He was 78 years old.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years Linda (Neumann), his son David (Suzanne) Letkemann, his daughters Sharon (Graham) Nickel, Jenifer (Aaron) Torio, and Carol (Trevor) Thielmann, and 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Lenora (Walter) Esau and Marlene (Ed) Fehlauer. He is predeceased by his parents John and Mary, and step-mother Helen.

Albert was born on October 7, 1939 in Rosemary, Alberta. In 1945 the Friesen family moved to BC where they bought a dairy farm on Prairie Central Road in Chilliwack. Later the Friesens would farm chickens and eventually filberts.

Albert spent time working at the East Chilliwack Co-op, as an assistant to his Uncle Henry in the plastering business, and also at a sawmill and on a green chain in Williams Lake. Soon after, he found his niche in the poultry industry, where he forged a career selling baby chicks, operating a beak-trimming business and farming broilers. He was known to many as "Chicken Al", and was renowned for his quick wit and sense of humor.

A celebration of his life will take place at 11:30 am, Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Central Community Church, 46100 Chilliwack Central Rd, Chilliwack, with reception to follow. All are invited.
