FLORIS, Albert John
Born September 21, 1930 and passed away Good Friday, March 25, 2016. Born in Zevenhuizen, Gronnigen, The Netherlands, he was the son of Simon Albert and Janke (Elzinga) Floris. Albert immigrated with his parents, and siblings (Lloyd, Kay and Jane) to Canada in 1949 to Haney, British Columbia. He married the love of his life Gerty Scholte in 1953, and it was 63 wonderful years. He owned and operated dairy farms in Haney, Armstrong, Cloverdale, Langley, and Abbotsford. He was a fixture at many Cattle Auctions in the Fraser Valley as a Dealer and Hauler for decades. Albert loved the farm and farm life; he was a man of high Integrity.
He was a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church. In his later years enjoyed playing chess, and watching sports. He especially loved seeing his grandchildren grow. Dad was predeceased by his sister Kay and his parents. Albert is survived by his wife Gerty and 5 children: Coby (Barry), Simon (Ase), Jane (Noel), Herb (Betty) and Jim (Susan); Grandchildren: Aaron, Matt, Bob (Michelle), Dan (Stacie), Bryan (Tanya), Scott, Mark (Yuka), Brandon (Brittany), Shaun, Ashley, Josh and great grandchildren; Logan, Gunnar and Nova.
