Al passed away peacefully with his daughter at his side on the morning of October 18, 2006.
Al will be lovingly missed by Betty, his wife of 55 years, their daughters Luella and Kathy, son-in-law Steve Akeroyd, grandsons David and Mark Akeroyd, grand-puppy Lacy and grand-kitties Onslow and Daisy, his sister Minnie Eyre of Abbotsford and brother George (Ruth) of Saskatoon, numerous nieces and nephews, and some very special people who have always been considered part of the family. Al will also be missed by his countless friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters, two brothers and son-in-law Chris Blake.
Al was a past Master of the Masons and a past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star where he made many close friends. Al will always be remembered for his kind ways, quick wit, love of music and his quiet strength. Al always had an ability to make everyone he met feel special, appreciated and at ease.
The family would like to thank Dr. M. Bale and his staff for their support, care and understanding. The entire staff of 3 West at MSA Hospital for their unfailing care and compassion, especially Wendy Taylor and Pat Scissons.
The family would like to invite you to a Celebration of Al's Life, which will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2006 from 2-4 pm at the Masonic Hall in Abbotsford, at the corner of Gladys and Pine. Tea and refreshments will be provided by the members of Electa Chapter #20 OES, to whom the family extends heartfelt appreciation.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society of British Columbia.
