BUSSEY, Albert James

Abby passed into the presence of his heavenly Father on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the age of 80. He is predeceased by his brother, Frank and his sister Bella. He is survived by his loving wife for 57 years, Olga, his daughter, Crystal and her husband, Jack, his grandsons, Craig and Cory, his brother, George and sister, Ruby. Abby was born on March 23, 1929 in Montreal where he grew up. He worked at Domco for 33 years as a purchasing agent. Moving to BC in 1981, Abby and Olga began working for the Mennonite Central Committee, providing care for people with mental handicaps, eventually starting their own group home, Summerhill House in 1986 which still operates. A faithful follower of Jesus Christ since his early manhood, Abby combined his service to his church with his other passion, music. Self-taught, Abby played piano, guitar, saxophone and other instruments. He was best known playing drums and chimes in the church orchestra at Trinity Pentecostal Church in Lasalle, Quebec. Abby embraced life and lived it to the fullest. He said his only problem was finding the time to fit in all that he wanted to do. Family meant so much to him and was never happier than when everyone got together for special occasions. A faithful husband, adoring father, loving brother and devoted grandfather, he will be deeply missed.

A homecoming celebration will be held at Abbotsford Pentecostal Assembly, 3145 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford on January 9th 2010 at 1:00 pm. Donations can be made to the MCC.
