DOERKSEN; Agnes Lydia. Agnes passed away at home, November 14, 2013. She was born to Henry N. and Agatha Unger August 23, 1935 in Bassano, Alberta. At age 16 Agnes committed her life to Christ. In the same year her family moved to Abbotsford. Agnes was baptized and joined what is now Central Heights Church. On July 6, 1962, she married Harry Doerksen. They became the parents of two sons, Allen, born 1964 and Brian, born 1965. Agnes chose a teaching career and taught mostly in Abbotsford with the exception of 2 years in Paraguay. In 1992 she retired and became involved in prayer and teaching ministries. Agnes and Harry lived on a 5 acre hobby farm where Agnes enjoyed her roses and garden projects. Agnes is survived by her loving family - husband Harry, son Allen (Denise), son Brian (Joyce) and nine grandchildren. A memorial service is planned at Central Heights Church on Sat. November 23 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dalit Freedom Network Canada (www.dalitfreedom.net) in memory of Agnes Doerksen. Gifts will aid Dalit women in learning to sew, with 50% going to the purchase of sewing machines and 50% going towards training and education for these women.
