Abram cornelius funk went to be with the Lord on August 5, 2004. He was born near Swift Current, Saskatchewan on July 9, 1910, and married Helena Leiding on July 8, 1934. Abe Funk farmed in the Swift Current area for mist of his life. As a young man, Abe Funk trusted Jesus Christ and as his Lord and Saviour. Christ was the centre of his life and his sure and only hope in both life and death. He would attribute the provision for raising a lage family of faith to God alone. In the mid 1970’s the Funks moved to Abbotsford to retire.
He is survived by his wife Helena of Abbotsford; and three isters, Helen Rempel of Swift Current, SK, Katie and Funk and Mary Leiding of Herbert, SK. He is also survived by 12 children; John (Irne) of Abbotsford, Henry (Barbara) of Leavittsburg, Ohio, Eva Becker (Garry) of Nuernberg, Germany, Helen Lupuliak of Abbotsford, Bill (Christina) of Cranbrook, B.C., Cory (Maryann) of Spruce Grove, AB, Jack (Carol) of Ottawa, ON, Ben (Linda) of Saskatoon, SK, Paul (Sharyn) of Winnipeg, MB, Alfred (Verna) of Victoria, B.C. Walter (Lori) of Abbotsford, and Elsie Phoenix (Dave) of Phoenix, AZ. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Elizabeth; a son Abe, who passed away in infancy; a granddaughter, Melody Funk; and son-in-law George Lupuliak. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Abbotsford Pentecostal Assembly, 3145 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford, BC at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2004.
