Abram A. OLFERT

Abram A. passed away June 28, 2005 at the Menno Home at age 101 years, lovingly sung into heaven by his great granddaughter Jennifer Dijk. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 1958, his second wife Maria in 1990 and oldest son Jake in 2004, as well as his step-son Herman in 1982 and step-daughter Agnes in 2002, infant grandson, grandson Rory Dueck, great grandsons Kyler Redekop and Jonathan Wedel, and great granddaughter Alison Wedel. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter-in-law Gaye Olfert, daughter Hilda (Jake) Redekop, son Abe (Helen) Olfert, son Henry (Sharlene) Olfert, daughter Helga (Henry) Stobbe and daughter Heidi Olfert, adopted son Peter (Claire) Harder; step-son Bert (Berta) Dueck; step-daughter-in-law Lillian Dueck; step-daughters Doreen (Hugo) Neufeld and Erna (Ernie) Wedel; many grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. He was a respected member of this community, having instigated the formation of the Clearbrook Golden Age Society and been involved in many community events. As a Freeman of the District of Matsqui, he was given a key to the city and subsequently was invited to have dinner in the presence of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Abram had been a Board member of the Mennonite Benevolant Society as well as a charter member of the Clearbrook Credit Union, the parent of the current Envision Credit Union. Viewing will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2005 at 7:00 — 9:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Mon. July 4, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. from Maclure Rd. Cemetery followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. from West Abbotsford Mennonite Church, corner of King and Townline Roads. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee.
