Abraham Arthur HAMM

Abraham Arthur passed away suddenly on February 20, 2007 at home in Abbotsford. He was born on September 21, 1932 in Gouldtown, Saskatchewan to Abraham and Helen (Weibe) Hamm. He accepted Jesus as his personal Saviour at age nine, and felt called to go to India at age 14. He married Shirley Memory and had four children; Darene, Debbie, Darrell and Darla. They served as missionaries in India for ten years. His first wife passed away suddenly in 1970 and Art settled in Outram Saskatchewan. He married Hilda (Huebner) Froese in 1979 who had four four children, Alan, Carolyn, Donna and Brenda. Together they served at Briercrest Bible College in Caronport, Saskatchewan until 1981 when they moved to Virgil, Ontario to represent the Far East Broadcasting Company and Every Home for Christ. In 1993 they moved to Abbotsford, British Columbia and began a home-based charitable organization in 1997 called Cross Cultural Mission Support Ministries. He had just returned from his 18th and final journey to India on February 19, 2007. He is survived by wife Hilda Hamm, eight children and spouses, 16 grandchildren, sister Clara Mierau and brother Henry Epp.

He lived out his life’s verse in every aspect: “And when He putteth forth His own sheep, He goeth before them, and the sheep follow Him; for they know His voice” (John 10:4).

Viewing will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd, Abbotsford on Sunday, February 25 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. The celebration of his life will be held on Monday, February 26 at 11:00 a.m. in Clearbrook MB Church, 2719 Clearbrook Rd., Abbotsford.
