Aagtje "Aggie" Hovingh Smit passed away on September 3, 2008 due to complications resulting from a fall. Aggie was a loving, classy, ardently independent woman, who at 91 years young was always open to trying new things and very much enjoyed being where the action was. Aggie lived her life to the fullest and was an inspiration to many. She will be terribly missed by her family & others who knew and loved her.

Aggie emigrated from Holland in 1953 with her husband Jan and their two sons, Bob and Casey. She embraced her new country with pride and enthusiasm and will be remembered for her love of family, generosity, practicality, and friendliness. She showed great interest in people and remembered everything about them.

Aggie was a devoted wife, mother, Oma, great Oma and friend and her passing has left an ache in our hearts.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Jan and son Bob. She will be missed by her son Casey (Gail), Pat Smit (daughter-in-law), Bonnie Smit (daughter-in-law); brothers: Bram Hovingh (Anna) and Willem Hovingh; Tity Venema (Dick) (sister-in-law), and their families. Grandchildren Casey W. Smit (Sandi), David Smit, Heidi Vinois (Stephane), Krista Drury (Nathan), Gregory Smit (Jennifer), Allison Smit, Kevin Kellner (Andrea) and Lisa Kellner. Great grandchildren: Mariah Bakstad; Julian, Nicholas & Zoe Vinois; and Tru Smit.

Her love knew no bounds and we are all very fortunate and grateful for having her in our lives for so long.

To honour her memory and what was important to her, please take a pause from the busyness of life, and spend time with a loved one over a cup of tea.

An Open House to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, September 13th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Eagles Hall at 33868 Essendene Street in Abbotsford.
