A young boy suffered minor injuries after being hit by a Jeep at a car washing facility in Abbotsford Tuesday afternoon.

The two- or three-year-old boy was struck by the vehicle as it backed out of the automatic car washing unit at Washworld Car Wash at Ware Street and Old Yale Road shortly after 4 p.m., according to Sgt. Judy Bird with the Abbotsford Police.

The boy, who had been playing in puddles, suffered little more than a bump on the head, Bird said. The driver did not initially notice that he had hit the child and began driving away but stopped when witnesses flagged him down, she said.

Bird said both the driver and witnesses are cooperating with the investigation.
