Workers on strike at Abbotsford's Cascade Aerospace

More than 400 employees will take part in job action

Unifor union members at Cascade Aerospace in Abbotsford issued notice of job action Thursday.

Unifor union members at Cascade Aerospace in Abbotsford have begun strike action as of 11 a.m. today.

The union issued notice of job action last Thursday and stated that a strike would begin if agreement on outstanding issues cannot be reached by June 4.

Abbotsford-based Cascade Aerospace is the primary DND contractor for repair and overhaul on the DND Hercules heavy transport plane fleet covering the Lockheed Martin C130 E, H and the new J models.

Unifor Local 114 represents 440 workers at Cascade, including aircraft maintenance engineers, interior technicians, painters, stores, maintenance, planning clerks and sheet metal mechanics.
