WITH VIDEO: Driver who crashes into tree in Abbotsford dies in hospital

A vehicle crashed into a tree on Ash Street in Abbotsford early Friday morning. The driver died in hospital a short time later.





A 48-year-old man who was in a single-car crash early this morning (Friday) in Abbotsford passed away in hospital a short time later.

The crash occurred at about 1:15 a.m. in the 2800 block of Ash Street.

Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald said patrol officers, Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service members and BC Ambulance staff who arrived on the scene found that a Honda Civic had gone off the road and crashed into a tree.

The driver was found to be in grave condition. He was extricated from the vehicle and transported to hospital, where he died shortly afterwards.

Abbotsford Police Department (APD) patrol officers and collision reconstructionists will be on the scene for several hours, and MacDonald said driver should take alternate routes.
