After more than a week of sunny and warm weather, the Fraser Valley is in for some real winter conditions.

On Saturday morning (Jan. 23) Environment Canada issued a weather warning for the West Fraser Valley area, including Abbotsford, and a weather statement for the East Fraser Valley.

Between five and 15 centimetres of snow is expected for Abbotsford and into the Lower Mainland between tonight (Jan. 23) and Sunday (Jan. 24) afternoon. The snow will change to rain or become mixed with rain late Sunday afternoon.

From Chilliwack to Hope, periods of snow are expected Saturday night through to Monday morning, with the potential for significant snowfall Sunday night.

According to Environment Canada, the first round of snow is expected to be fairly light and a more significant round of snow is possible beginning late Sunday afternoon. The area could get up to 10 centimetres by Sunday night.

The snow will be wet and may become mixed with rain.
