A judge has ruled that Wayne Scott of Abbotsford was not entrapped by police during an undercover investigation that resulted in his conviction for conspiracy to traffic cocaine.
The ruling was made Wednesday in B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver, where a hearing was conducted into Scott's claims that he should not have been found guilty in the case.
Scott was charged with Jarrod Bacon in November 2009, following an investigation by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit in Abbotsford. Much of the case was based on wiretap evidence gathered by a police agent, who was a friend of Scott's.
Scott is the maternal grandfather of Bacon's young child.
Scott and Bacon were each found guilty in February of one count of drug conspiracy, following the conclusion of their trial.
