Balloons, games and embracing friends and family will have to wait until next year for Abbotsford native Gina Brar, but her seventh birthday on April 2 was still one to remember.

Celebrations during the COVID-19 era are certainly not typical, but the Brar family decided to make sure Gina felt the love during a special car parade.

“We did this because there is no way we could have had a party during these times while social distancing is so important,” her mother Binnie Brar told The News. “We surprised Gina with a birthday parade and still had a memorable birthday.”

The parade was made up of close family members and friends of Gina. Her father and sister led the parade, and not too far behind was her grandfather driving a dump truck. The Brar family owns and operates R&J Holdings, a local trucking company that has been in business since 1988.
