A van plowed through two suites of an Abbotsford apartment building early this morning, but nobody was seriously injured.
The incident took place at about 3 a.m. at the Cedar Green apartment building in the 2400 block of Countess Street.
Abbotsford Police Const. Paul Walker said a 48-year-old woman was travelling north on Alder Street when she apparently went through a stop sign, crossed Peardonville Road and ran into the south side of the building.
The van went through two suites, coming to rest at the foot of the bed of a man who had been sleeping. The man was not injured nor were two people in the other suite.
The driver had to be extricated from her vehicle and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Walker said it appears that the woman may have had some kind of medical distress before the collision, and speed is also being considered as a contributing factor.
Five suites in the building have been evacuated, due to significant structural damage.
The area around the building will be closed for several hours, as police collision reconstructionists attend the scene.
A structural engineer will also be on scene to determine the specifics of the damage before the vehicle can be removed.
