UPDATE: Suspect arrested for March 3 cat burglaries

Suspect got in through unlocked ground-floor windows

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection to two cat burglaries earlier this month.

Brett Thomas has been charged with two counts of breaking and entering.

A burglar struck two homes in the Gladwin Road area south of Downes Road, sometime between 11 p.m. Saturday, March 2 and 4 a.m. Sunday, March 3.

In both cases, the culprit got into the homes through an unlocked ground-floor window while the occupants were sleeping.

A woman's purse was stolen from one of the homes. MacDonald said the residents of the other residence didn't notice anything had been taken.

The tenants discovered that someone had been in their homes after they awoke the next morning and saw that items had been moved around and the window was open.
