A man with a gunshot wound is in serious condition in hospital after an incident on Chilliwack River Road early Friday morning.
The Chilliwack RCMP Serious Crime Unit is investigating what police believe to be a targeted shooting at around 5 a.m.
It was then police received the report of a man with a gunshot wound who had driven his vehicle into a ditch on Chilliwack River Road.
When police arrived, they found paramedics with the B.C. Ambulance Service and Good Samaritans helping the man.
RCMP are asking anyone traveling on Chilliwack River Road and surrounding area early that morning who may have witnessed unusual driving behaviour or events to contact them, said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Rail.
Police and a tow truck were dealing with two vehicles at the scene. First, the tow truck pulled a silver- or gold-coloured sedan up to the road from a long driveway. The vehicle had visible damage on the side.
That same tow truck then drove off with a white GMC pickup truck with right, front-end damage, but the owner of that vehicle stated his pickup had nothing to do with the incident but was being towed at the time.
