The driver of a PT Cruiser was killed this afternoon (Friday) following a head-on collision with a dump truck.
The crash took place at about 12:30 p.m. on Huntingdon Road at Laxton Street.
Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald said the car was travelling east while the truck was heading west at the time of the collision.
The male driver of the PT Cruiser was pronounced dead at the scene. His age has not been confirmed at this time.
The male driver of the truck suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
The exact circumstances of the crash are still under investigation by Abbotsford Police collision reconstructionists and patrol division officers.
“We offer condolences to the family and friends of the deceased driver, and encourage support for the driver of the dump truck, who has been fully co-operative with police,” MacDonald said.
He said several witnesses spoke to officers at the scene. However, anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet contacted police is asked to call 604-859-5225 or text abbypd (222973).
