UPDATE: Cyclist dies following collision on Maclure Road in Abbotsford

Crash takes place Thursday morning near Chehalis Drive

Emergency crews were in the area of Maclure Road and Chehalis Drive on Thursday morning after a cyclist was struck by a vehicle.

A 38-year-old male cyclist was pronounced dead on the scene of a collision this morning (Thursday) with a truck in Abbotsford.

The crash took place just after 9:30 a.m. in the area of Maclure Road and Chehalis Drive.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were on the scene, and an air ambulance landed behind Twisters Gym at Exhibition Park.

Const. Ian MacDonald said the 42-year-old male driver remained on the scene and has been fully co-operative with police.

He said it appears that just before the crash, the cyclist was travelling east on a sidewalk on the north side of Maclure Road while the truck was headling west.

No futher details were available, including the exact circumstances of the collision.
