Two tractors collided on Thursday afternoon on Dixon Road west of No. 5 Road – a rural area in east Abbotsford.

A 35-year-old man was airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries on Thursday afternoon after the tractor he was driving was rear-ended by another one.

The collision occurred at about 12:45 p.m. in the 3100 block of Dixon Road just west of No. 5 Road on Sumas Prairie in east Abbotsford.

The driver of the second tractor, a 37-year-old man, was uninjured.

Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald said both men are from Mexico and are in Canada on work permits. They are both employed by the same farm.

Dixon Road was closed to traffic west of No. 5 Road for several hours as Abbotsford Police investigators remained on scene.

Last November in Abbotsford, a tractor crushed a car in a head-on collision.
