Two new members have joined the Abbotsford Police board.
Bruce Nicholson and Sukh Sidhu will join existing members Mayor George Peary, Jon Eaton, Karen Matty, Michael McWhinney and Deborah Lehmann.
They join the board as member Jati Sidhu’s term comes to an end.
Nicholson is a retired high school principal who is a member of several community groups. His interest in policing stems from having worked with several school police liaison officers throughout the last half of his 32-year career in education.
Sidhu is a realtor who has volunteered with organizations such as the Abbotsford Community Foundation, the Fraser Valley Indo Canadian Business Association, and the MSA Museum board.
The Abbotsford Police board is a volunteer civilian governing body which, among other tasks, oversees finances, sets policy and direction, approves the budget for submission to city council, and serves as the discipline authority for policy and service complaints.
