Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with an assault that took place Friday night at a farm on Olund Road in Abbotsford.

Christopher John Duerksen, 31, and Stuart Matthew Forrest, 24, have been charged with aggravated assault, robbery and kidnapping.

Const. Ian MacDonald said it is alleged that both of these men attacked the 28-year-old victim, bound him and forced him into a nearby wooded area.

Investigators believe the attack was targeted because one of the accused knows the victim, MacDonald said.

The victim continues to recover in hospital from injuries to his face and head.

"The injuries to the victim could have been a great deal worse if the 'suspicious circumstances' hadn't been immediately reported by witnesses and if APD officers didn't locate the bound and injured man as quickly as they did," MacDonald said.

The incident took place at 9:20 p.m. Friday at a farm in the 5400 block of Olund Road.

Officers who arrived at the scene found evidence of a struggle on the property, and the victim was located after a search by officers, a K9 unit and a police helicopter.

MacDonald said the victim has no prior negative interactions with police.

Duerksen was arrested on Saturday and Forrest on Sunday.

Duerksen has a prior conviction for possession for the purpose of trafficking, for which he received at 15-month conditional sentence (house arrest) in June 2008.

Forrest has multiple prior convictions, including for theft, mischief, assault, uttering threats and breaching his probation and bail conditions.
