There were no injuries after a train smashed into a semi-trailer Wednesday afternoon in Mission.

According to Asst. Fire Chief Larry Watkinson, the truck was loaded with concrete slabs and became high-centered when trying to cross the tracks south of McLean Street.

The arms came down while the truck was trying to move and the driver jumped away before the train hit the vehicle, which was launched approximately 500 metres down the track, said Watkinson.

The slabs flew off the trailer like "frisbees" and destroyed a small outbuilding nearby which brought down high-voltage lines.
