A new brew pub is coming to Abbotsford, and they’re looking to hire 80 to 100 people.

Trading Post Brewing, which currently has one location in Langley and another in Fort Langley, is opening up a new location for its Eatery restaurant at 3058 Gladwin Road in Abbotsford. The operation is holding a hiring fair from Thursday to Saturday this week and Tuesday next week to fill the newly opened front-of-house and back-of-house positions.

That includes, for front of house, shift supervisors, servers, bartenders, hosts, bussers, expediters, food runners and growler bar attendants. For back of house, they’re looking for sous chefs, junior sous chefs, line cooks, prep cooks and kitchen porters.

Although the 200-seat location won’t be brewing the beer onsite, it will still be classified as a brewery.

“What we’re going to be doing is starting a barrel-aging program. In order to be classified as a brewery, you need to be doing two of the three steps of brewing,” said Tim LaHay, Trading Post Eatery general manager for Abbotsford.

“So we’re going to brew the beer in our Langley brewery, and then it will be transported out to Abbotsford and put into barrels, which will be on display in the restaurant to be part of the aging process, and then we’ll also be packaging the beer here, as well.”

LaHay said the operations at the Abbotsford location won’t be replacing any operations at the Langley brewery. What it does mean is beer-lovers will be able to fill up their growlers at the Abbotsford location.

The Trading Post team has also teamed up with Field House Brewing to brew a collaboration beer, likely to be debuted with the opening of the new Trading Post location.

Trading Post first opened its Langley brewery in February 2016, opening the Trading Post Taphouse and Eatery in Fort Langley a few months later.

The hiring fair will be held at the Gladwin Road location, from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Tuesday, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The restaurant is anticipated to open in December.
