Toddler fine after fall out of second-storey window

The two-year-old girl was playing hide-and-seek at her home in Abbotsford, according to police.

A two-year-old girl fell out of a second-storey window on Saturday night in Abbotsford, but she was not seriously injured.

Const. Ian MacDonald said police were called to assist at a home in the 3200 block of McKinley Drive at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

He said five people were in the home at the time: the girl; her two siblings, ages 5 and 9; their father; and a friend, 9.

MacDonald said the kids were all playing hide-and-seek in the dark, when the toddler fell out of an open unscreened window.

She fell onto the grass, and she was alert and crying at the scene.

The girl was taken to hospital for assessment and was discharged the following day with "no injury concerns," MacDonald said.

Last year, police in Abbotsford reminded residents to watch their young children around windows after a three-year-old boy and a 16-month-old girl both survived falls.
