Three teen boys have been arrested in relation to a series of arsons that occurred in Abbotsford on Monday and Tuesday.

Const. Ian MacDonald said seven small fires were set in dumpsters, garbage cans and a wooden bench in the area of Immel Street and Old Clayburn Road.

Five took place between 3 and 7 a.m. on Monday, one occurred Monday night and one was on Tuesday evening.

MaDonald said among the locations were Hazelwood Cemetery, Immel Plaza, an apartment building and Margaret Stenersen elementary.

Police are not revealing how the fires were set. MacDonald said, although they were the small, the fires had the potential to cause greater damage because of their proximity to buildings.

MacDonald said officers began their investigation by checking the streets and talking to kids who were out in the early-morning hours.

"Confessions and admissions came pretty quickly after that," he said.

The three boys in their early teens were arrested yesterday (Wednesday).

MacDonald said residents are reminded to call in suspicious activity and immediately report all fires.
