Three Abbotsford schools closed due to windstorm knocking out power

Heavy winds knock out power to thousands of BC Hydro customers in Lower Mainland

Abbotsford students of Aberdeen Elementary, Matsqui Elementary and King Traditional Elementary will have the day off due to the windstorm.

The storm has knocked out power to the schools, leaving them without heat and light, the Abbotsford School District said.

Heavy winds have knocked out power to over 36,000 BC Hydro customers in the Lower Mainland, and Abbotsford is one of the hardest hit areas, according to the agency.
