Mission Memorial Hospital is implementing "service adaptations" for its emergency department Saturday evening through to Sunday morning, Fraser Health says.
In a news release Saturday (Aug. 10), Fraser Health says that "due to physician staffing challenges" at the hospital, the health authority is implementing a "temporary service adaptation notice" from Saturday, Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. to Sunday, Aug. 11 at 8 a.m.
All patients in the emergency department by 6 p.m. Saturday "will be seen by an emergency department physician who will ensure they get the care they need."
The service adaptations will begin after 6 p.m. when emergency-trained nurses will be on site and available to support walk-in patients needing basic first air, assistance with re-direction of care, or the transfer patients with urgent needs to a neighbouring hospital.
Anyone requiring urgent carer is asked to go to an urgent and primary care centre, another emergency department or Ridge Meadows Hospital.
Fraser Health says it has coordinated with B.C. Emergency Health Services to make sure patients requiring a high level are care are directed or transferred to "an appropriate hospital emergency service."
