Suspect wanted in robbery of 89-year-old woman

Abbotsford Police are asking for help in trying to track down a suspect who robbed an 89-year-old woman earlier this month.

The incident took place at about 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 14 at a bank in the 32700 block of South Fraser Way.

The senior woman was with her daughter and was attempting to get into the passenger side of their vehicle, when a man grabbed her black purse, pulling her to the ground in the process.

The culprit then ran northbound from the parking lot. Several people came to assist the victim as her daughter called police.

The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of various injuries, including scrapes and abrasions.

The suspect had been inside the bank just prior to the robbery. He is described as a Caucasian male in his 20s with a thin build. He was wearing a blue “Bench” hooded jacket.
