Travellers moving between Abbotsford and Hope may get there a little faster with an 10 km/h increase in the speed limit on Highway 1 between Whatcom Road (Exit 95) and the junction with Highway 3, near Hope.
The increase in the speed limit from 100 km/h to 110 km/h on that stretch takes effect today, and other increases around the province will be phased in over the summer.
The province announced the changes today (Wednesday) as the result of a province-wide rural highway safety and speed review.
Speed limits will be adjusted on about 1,300 km of highways throughout the province.
