Six drug busts in Abbotsford last week; man charged in one

An Abbotsford man has been charged in connection to one of three busts last Wednesday (Feb. 9).

Abbotsford Police conducted three more drug busts over the weekend.

Details are sketchy, but Const. Ian MacDonald said in one instance, a child was in one of the homes and had access to areas where cocaine, crack cocaine and marijuana were being weighed and packaged.

The Ministry of Children and Family Development was called in.

Meanwhile, charges have been laid in connection to one of three other busts that took place earlier in the week – on Wednesday, Feb. 9.

Mitchell Alan Donison, 27, was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and two counts of careless use of a firearm.

The Abbotsford Police's gang suppression unit issued a search warrant for a home in the 33200 block of Robertson Avenue. They seized a loaded shotgun, a loaded rifle, ammunition and a small amount of marijuana.

Other busts took place that day in the 27600 block of Nathan Place and the 30800 block of Sandpiper Drive. A grow-up was found in each residence, one with 2,400 plants and the other with 700. Charges have not yet been laid.

Donison appeared in court on Friday and was released on $5,000 bail. His next appearance is Feb. 24 in Abbotsford provincial court.

He was convicted in October 2004 of two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and in November 2008 and May 2010 of driving while prohibited.
