Abbotsford Police were on Southern Drive in Abbotsford on Monday night to investigate reports of shots being fired.

Several shots were fired at a house in the 31400 block of Southern Drive in west Abbotsford on Monday night.

Police were called to the scene at about 9:30 p.m. after receiving multiple calls from neighbours.

Streets in the neighbourhood were blocked off as police investigated and gathered evidence, including bullet casings on the sidewalk.

No one was hurt in the incident, and the motive for the shooting is not yet known. Southern Drive is located in an area east of Townline Road and north of Maclure Road.

Police have not said whether they believe the shooting is related to the ongoing “Townline Hill conflict” in which two groups of young men in west Abbotsford have been involved in a dispute since last spring. The conflict has involved incidents of mischief, assault, vandalism and arson.

Last October, 18-year-old Harwin Baringh was fatally shot while in his vehicle on Sparrow Drive in west Abbotsford, but police have also not confirmed whether his murder is related to the dispute.

However, court documents filed in December to seize two vehicles alleged to have ties to Baringh’s murder indicated that his death was linked to an “ongoing gang conflict.”

Anyone with information about the shooting on Southern Drive is asked to call the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225 or text abbypd (222973).
