Several loads of food have been airlifted into Hope over the last few days, helping the community that’s been cut off from deliveries.

Among the businesses stepping in to help was Paladin Risk Solutions. They partnered with Ascent Helicopters to coordinate, load and deliver food and other essential items to those affected by the floods, damage, and devastation in the Fraser Valley and Hope area.

Hundreds of pounds of food and essentials, including pet food, was delivered Friday in Hope, which is struggling with the lack of essential supplies as the district is trapped between closed highways. The essentials are also there to support stranded travellers in the area.

In a news release, the company said it was a plan put in place in just 24 hours due to the rapidly changing events in the area.

Ascent Helicopters flew into the Pitt Meadows Airport and a team from Paladin Risk was there to load the donations. Paladin Risk Vice President Mike Lantz was onboard the helicopter to ensure the drop off in Hope was successful.

Hundreds of people have had to be evacuated and rescued over the past week in the Fraser Valley and Hope area due to flooding.

Also on Friday, the government announced that Highway 3 is now open, allowing travel out of Hope to the east for the first time since Monday.
