School uniform vote lowered to 66 per cent

The Abbotsford board of education has reduced the percentage of favourable votes that schools require to implement student uniforms.

Schools must hold a referendum when parents or the Parents’ Advisory Council are interested in making the change. Previously, 75 per cent approval was required. Now, 66 per cent is needed.Trustees said they made the change as a request from parents whose children attend school in west Abbotsford, where there is growing interest in uniforms and dress codes.
