Sawed-off shotgun and drugs found in Aldergrove home

Abbotsford Police issued a drug search warrant on Monday, which resulted in two nearby schools being locked down for a period.

No charges have yet been laid following a drug bust in Aldergrove that was led by the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) on Monday morning.

The bust occurred in the 26500 block of 29 Avenue, after the APD served a warrant with the assistance of the Langley RCMP and the Lower Mainland emergency response team.

Const. Ian MacDonald said police seized a sawed-off shotgun from the home, as well as small quantities of cocaine and meth.

MacDonald said the APD was involved because of information uncovered in Abbotsford.

"This home has been reported to be a bit of a hang-out for a number of individuals reported to be using drugs and causing problems," he said.

As is most often the case with drug raids, the people involved likely have gang ties, although at a low level, MacDonald added.

The six people who were detained have all been released, as the investigation continues.

Betty Gilbert middle school and Aldergrove Community Secondary were both locked down for about an hour during the bust, as a precautionary measure.
