Robbers hit two fast food restaurants in Abbotsford

Managers were injured in both incidents, which occurred on Wednesday and Friday.

The Abbotsford Police Department is investigating two recent cat burglaries.

Abbotsford Police are investigating two fast food robberies that they are believe are related and which both involved injuries to restaurant managers.

The first robbery took place at 3:35 a.m. on Wednesday, when two men went to a McDonald's restaurant in the 2100 block of Whatcom Road.

One man went inside while the second appeared to keep watch outside.

The suspect – described as being in his 20s, over six feet tall and with a medium build – located a restaurant manager inside the business and demanded cash.

The manager was struck several times during the encounter.

Both suspects fled from the business and the manager contacted police. The 39-year-old victim was transported to hospital for treatment of his injuries.

This morning (Friday) at 4:25 a.m., two men entered a McDonald’s in the 32900 block of South Fraser Way.

They demanded cash from a 36-year-old manager.

The suspects fled, and the manager was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The suspects are described as men in their 20s, one Caucasian and one possibly South Asian.

The major crime unit of the Abbotsford Police Department is investigating both incidents.

Const. Ian MacDonald said business owners should elevate their safety protocols and ensure that all security equipment is functioning.

Citizens are being asked to report any suspicious activity around businesses, particularly late at night and in the early morning.
