Residents of East Abbotsford notice discoloured water

City advises those affected to let water run clear

Some residents of East Abbotsford have noticed the water from their taps running brown.

A representative from the city said the water is discoloured due to sediment that has been stirred up in the pipe system, saying this can happen when a high velocity of water comes through the system, such as when a fire hydrant is used.

The affected area is a small section of East Abbotsford, and the city says the water is safe to use.

City water crews are flushing the water lines, which will be completed later Friday morning.

Residents have been advised to let their taps run clear.
