A rash of prank calls about sprinkler systems appears to be isolated to North Vancouver and the metro Vancouver area.

However, Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service (AFRS) and the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) are asking the public to report any calls they receive from a person purporting to be a fire marshall or a sprinkler repair technician, instructing them to set off their fire sprinkler systems.

At least seven hotels and restaurants have suffered damages to their properties since the prank calls began Friday in Vancouver.

Any such calls locally can be reported to the AFRS at 604-853-3566 or the APD at 604-859-5225.
