Police are issuing a warning to the public that Kosta Tsekoura is now living in Mission.

Police are taking a rare step and issuing notice to Mission residents that a convicted sexual offender is living in the community.

"It is not common for us to issue public warnings," explained Mission RCMP Sgt. Shaun Wright. "When the need to warn the public based primarily upon the likelihood of re-offending, and the nature of the offence is warranted in contrast to the privacy right of that individual, we will issue public warnings."

Kosta Tsekouras, 32, of Richmond was released on a peace bond for incidents dating back to 2010.

"Our concern here is that Mr. Tsekouras does have a criminal record with a sexual offence conviction and several entries for failing to comply with probation order," said Richmond RCMP Cpl. Stephanie Ashton in a press release. "Public safety comes first and it's necessary to advise the public so they can take the necessary steps if approached by him."

Conditions for Tsekouras include not attending parks, public pools, playgrounds, schools or daycares. He is also not to be in the company of anyone under the age of 16, or be outside of his residence without being escorted by a supervisor.

Tsekouras is 6'3" tall and weighs 220 pounds. He has dark brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who sees Tsekouras breaching the conditions of his release should call 911.
