Police in Surrey want to talk to anyone who witnessed a woman assaulted in Whalley over the weekend.
Surrey RCMP say the crime happened on a sidewalk in the 10200-block of University Drive on Sunday, Oct. 6 at around 12:30 a.m., west of the Central City tower.
Investigators with the Serious Crime Unit believe multiple suspects may have been involved in the attack, which sent the victim to hospital with "injuries consistent with a stabbing," according to Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha, Media Relations Officer with Surrey RCMP.
Police say "a good Samaritan" transported the woman to hospital, where she's recovering from injuries.
Meantime, investigators are canvassing the area for CCTV footage to identify the suspects as they work to determine the motive, Sangha noted.
"There were other people in the area when this assault occurred and we urge them to come forward and speak with police," she said.
“This is a very concerning incident in our community as it appears random in nature."
Anyone with information and/or video of this incident is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 24-149155.
