Rally against youth sexual exploitation

Youth groups hold event in Abbotsford on Thursday, March 14

The Fraser Valley Community Action Team (FVCAT) holds a public rally on Thursday, March 14 against the sexual exploitation of children and youth.

The rally begins at 3 p.m. at the Abbotsford Youth Commission (AYC), 32315 South Fraser Way, with an introduction by FVCAT co-chairs Bev Olfert of the AYC and Sheila Lum of Abbotsford Community Services.

Abbotsford Police Sgt. Casey Vinet will emcee the event.

The rally will march down South Fraser Way and conclude with refreshments at AYC.

Lum and Olfert said the sexual exploitation of youth happens all over, behind closed doors.

"With awareness, we can reduce the numbers and put an end to the sexual exploitation of our youth," Lum said.
