Rainfall records fell in deluge Saturday across the Fraser Valley

The steady rain broke the May 30 record in Chilliwack for rain with one day total of 31.7 mm

It was the steady rain over parts of Chilliwack and other areas of the eastern Fraser Valley on Saturday that ended up breaking at least one rainfall record.

A record rainfall of 31.7 millimetres was recorded in Chilliwack on May 30, 2020, according to Roger Pannett, volunteer weather observer for Environment Canada.

The record for the May 30 date was set in 1940 when 24.9 millimetres of rain fell in Chilliwack.

A total of 35.4 mm of rain fell in Hope on May 30, 2020, while 36.5 fell in Agassiz, and 25 mm fell in Abbotsford according to vancouver.weatherstats.ca.
