Public meeting scheduled for new Abbotsford elementary school boundaries

District waiting for funding for Eagle Mountain Elementary

The Abbotsford school district will welcome the public to give input on the catchment boundaries for a new elementary school proposed for Eagle Mountain on Feb. 15 at 7 p.m.

The forum will be hosted at W.A. Fraser Middle School.

The district has submitted a project definition report for Eagle Mountain Elementary to the province and is hoping to receive the $13.9 million it estimates it needs to build it.

The three elementary schools in the Eagle Mountain area – McMillan, Mountain and Prince Charles – are currently running at 104.5 per cent of their operating capacity. Without a new school, this figure is projected to increase to 120 per cent by 2020 and 157 per cent by 2028.
