Project Border Town has resulted in a 73 per cent drop in property crime in west Abbotsford in its first two weeks of operation.

Project Border Town has resulted in a 73 per cent drop in property crime in west Abbotsford in its first two weeks of operation.

Insp. Carol Powell told the police board on Tuesday that the drop is even higher – 85 per cent – in the vicinity of Fraser Highway and Station Road (the Abbotsford-Aldergrove border).

There have been only two thefts from vehicles since the project began at the beginning of February, Powell said.

The project involves officers from the Abbotsford Police Department and the Langley RCMP working together to fight property crime.
