A previously postponed pro-life event at the Abbotsford campus of the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) will be held this evening at 7:30 p.m. in Room B101.

The event is hosted by UFV Life Link and will feature a presentation by Mike Schouten, campaign director of "We Need a Law," about the current legal status of abortion in Canada.

According to a press release, the presentation "will highlight Canada's stance as one of only a few countries in the world with no protection for children in the womb."

The event was rescheduled from April, after the university said Life Link had not disclosed in time that the event would include an outside speaker and advertising.

UFV administration was informed that a protest was planned in opposition to the speech, and at that time UFV representatives said they did not have time to do a "fulsome risk assessment to ensure… safety."

Life Link protested the postponement and said the club had also been "banned" earlier in the year from distributing anti-gendercide resources unless it was done in a closed room.
