UPDATE: Downtown Abbotsford power outage still an issue for about 1,200 customers

A power outage in downtown Abbotsford that is affecting more than 8,200 customers is also causing major traffic delays throughout the city.

The power went out at 12:36 p.m. according to BC Hydro, and crews were on the scene by 1 p.m.

There is no current estimated time for restoring the power, but the reason stated is that a wire is down. BC Hydro describes the affected area as: East of Emerson Street, North of Hawthorn Avenue, West of Woodbine Crescent, South of Arcadian Way.

UPDATE: As of 3 p.m., there is a still a power outage affecting downtown Abbotsford, although the area has been reduced to about 1,200 customers. BC Hydro expects to have power restored by 4 p.m.
