A home where 12 firearms were seized on Saturday morning has been visited by Abbotsford Police 14 times so far this year.

Const. Ian MacDonald said the house – located in the 34000 block of Gladys Avenue – is known as a nuisance, and the 42-year-old man who was arrested for possessing the weapons was on police “radar” throughout the Lower Mainland.

Police who executed a search warrant at the home found eight rifles and four handguns, including a loaded one on a table. The rest were found under a mattress and in various other locations throughout the residence.

MacDonald said police will now be looking at the history of the weapons to see if they are connected to any previous crimes.

The man who was arrested faces firearms-related charges. Two other occupants of the home – a man and a woman – were detained by police and released without charge.
