Abbotsford Police have released this sketch of a suspect in a carjacking and break-in on Dec. 21.

Abbotsford Police have released a composite sketch of a suspect wanted in a home break-in and a subsequent carjacking on Dec. 21.

Const. Ian MacDonald said the sketch was produced from witness descriptions of the man, who is Caucasian and in his 20s or 30s.

Police were called to a break-in at a home in the 30000 block of Nicholson Road in north Abbotsford at about 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21.

When officers arrived, the suspect fled in a pickup – later determined to be stolen from Burnaby – and struck a police vehicle parked at the end of the driveway before fleeing south on Mt. Lehman Rd.

Minutes later, police deployed a spike belt, but the pickup continued  south and was then involved in a crash with another vehicle at Mt. Lehman Road and Cardinal Avenue.

The suspect produced a handgun, forcing a woman out of her Toyota Corolla before fleeing in it westbound on Highway 1.

Police were unable to locate the suspect or the vehicle, which sports licence plate 726 PHL.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
