Police activity along Young Road Sunday (May 30) was related to last week’s shooting death in Chilliwack.
The road was blocked off with police tape for a short time just north of Highway 1 overpass, and a police presence remained in the area for part of the day.
“With regards to the IHIT (Integrated Homicide Investigation Team) presence on the Young Road overpass on Sunday morning, I can confirm that that was part of an ongoing IHIT investigation from last week,” Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Krista Vrolyk confirmed Monday morning.
Because the investigation is in the hands of IHIT, Vrolyk couldn’t say what police were looking for, referring inquiries to IHIT.

IHIT has so far remained tight-lipped about the incident, other than saying it is not connected to recent gang violence.
“No update at this time,” said IHIT spokesperson Frank Jang Monday morning.
The shooting happened in the early hours of Thursday, May 27. At around 1:25 a.m. that morning, 37-year-old Adam Gerald Ball was dropped off at Chilliwack General Hospital with gunshot wounds that proved fatal.
While police have not connected Ball’s death to prior criminal activity, he was convicted of manslaughter in a violent killing of a man 16 years ago in Nanaimo. Professional boxer Mark Woolnough was acquitted of manslaughter in the beating death of an Ontario man after a drunk brawl on Jan. 10, 2005. His four co-accused, however, Paul Rosborough, Dylan Ambrus, Donald Clarke, and Ball, were convicted.
On Friday, IHIT and the RCMP forensics team were set up at a residence at 8880 Broadway Street, and IHIT has put out a call for tips from the public.
